Grandma Sybil sits in her rocking chair in the corner, rocking back and forth,
taking it all in. Her children, now grown up, have gone out for the night, leaving Grandma to watch the children. The
kids are normal enough, scampering about the house, getting into all sorts of mischief in the dark and mysterious corners
of Grandma's attic, and playing dress-up with wild clothes they find inside her many dusty old trunks. But Grandma Sybil is
no ordinary granny. She's lived a long, adventurous life and had extravagant experiences most people only have in their dreams.
Suddenly, Grandma Sybil's shrill voice calls out to her grandchildren.
"Children!" she cries, "Come and talk to your Granny. Tell me what ails the
minds of you tiny tots. Come, sit with me. Listen as Grandma Sybil tells you a story of long ago, but not just that! Listen
carefully, for each story contains a moral, a kernel of wisdom...hmmm, kernel....that reminds me of a story. Many years ago,
when I was a spy for the English government, I found myself riding aboard the ship of a magnificent, yet smelly, pirate. His
name was Brown Beard, though his friends called him Vinny, and he just loved to eat popcorn..."
